“I see myself on a mission to entertain the people, give them emotions and make them happy.”

“I was very lucky to give lectures and concerts in over 40 countries, and meeting many cultures. The music has no borders.”

Vita

The internationally acclaimed Swiss Boogie Woogie & Blues pianist Silvan Zingg from Lugano started improvising on his mother’s piano as a little boy. His repertoire leaves nothing to be desired: from lively Boogie Woogie and sensitive Blues to classical Jazz and Swing – all played with lightness, improvisation, a lot of passion and wit in a brilliant quality. This is what characterizes the piano playing of the “Boogie Woogie Ambassador from Switzerland”, as the international press calls him.

At the age of 18 he performed at the “Masters of Boogie Woogie Night” in Charleston, South Carolina. Today he is one of the most famous Boogie Woogie pianists in Europe.

In his now over 25-year music career, he had the pleasure to perform in more than 50 countries in Europe, South-, North- and Central-America, Asia and Africa.

“Silvan plays as if he were from St. Louis – he could be my blues brother!” – said Rock ‘n’ Roll legend Chuck Berry enthusiastically about his pianist during a joint concert. Full of praise for Silvan Zingg was also B.B. King after their concert in the Stravinski Hall at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 2011. With him, Silvan Zingg associates a very special moment: Zingg was the only European who attended the funeral of B.B. King in 2015 and was allowed to participate there in Indianola, Mississippi, USA. A day he will never forget.

Music Projects

In addition to his professional musician career, Silvan Zingg has been producing his own “International Boogie Woogie Festival” in Lugano since 2002 and the “Piano Jazz auf zwei Flügeln” festival in Basel since 2010. Furthermore he has already produced 14 CDs over the years. Evergreens as well as his own compositions can be found on the CDs, as well as at his concerts.

Boogie Woogie Festival

He presents his lecture “The World of Boogie Woogie and Blues Piano” in four languages at colleges, universities and festivals.

It is his mission, to pass his music, as well as its history and its background on to the people, students and children. Of course with the instrument of his choice: the SHIGERU KAWAI grand piano. “I am very happy and proud to be the artist ambassador for KAWAI. The SHIGERU KAWAI grand piano has a wonderfully rounded and warm sound with lots of bass – just the way I prefer it. Working with KAWAI is also a lot of fun and a great privilege for me. I’m looking forward to many more musical years with the great team and these unique instruments.“

Artist Silvan Zingg

Almost everybody has for sure already experienced, that things don’t always run according to plan and that sometimes there are also difficult times. The important thing is just how you deal with it: You can fall into a deep hole and let the negative things take away your joy in life or you can use the situation as a chance to (re)-discover new passions.

Silvan Zingg decided for the latter. The long compulsory break due to Covid in 2020 and 2021 caused him, like all other cultural workers, a lot of headache. For months there were no live concerts or engagements, the precious direct contact with friends and fans was missing and life was simply not like „before“. Fortunately, during this time, Silvan Zingg rediscovered an old talent that gave him a lot of joy and strength: art painting.

Within just a few months, he created around 100 pictures on canvas in various formats. His secret: Simply follow the current mood, thoughts and feelings as a template and soon a masterpiece is created. He works with acrylic paints on canvas and the results can be described as abstract expressionism.

No picture is the like the other, each one has its own flair in terms of color, motif and size. This means that there is something for everyone’s taste – regardless of whether you prefer the strong colors or rather subtle, whether it should be a large, wall-filling picture or rather something smaller. With the diverse selection of his pictures, all painted in his home atelier, everyone is sure to find their favorite picture.

Silvan Zingg is especially happy about requests for visits (also virtually) in his atelier to choose a favorite picture. All pictures can be purchased and are also a perfect gift idea, ideally together with one of his numerous CDs. For Silvan personally it is a great gift when can pass on joy and strength both with his music and his pictures.
